Open Call for Submissions!
Honeycomb Press is buzzing with excitement as we announce the forthcoming University of Baltimore's 100th Anniversary publication: 100 Words for 100 Years! As such, we’re open for submissions commemorating this auspicious event through fiction, poetry, nonfiction, hybrid writing, and artwork. The deadline for submissions is March 7, 2025. Please have submissions sent by midnight EST on March 7th to be considered.
THEME:
“A Century of Voices”
For 100 years, UBalt has been a hub for transformation, resilience, and innovation. To celebrate that, we are centering our theme on 100 years. We invite submissions that explore themes of growth, perseverance, identity, and change—whether personal, societal, or historical. What does 100 years mean to you?
WHO WE ARE:
Honeycomb Press is a literary press at The University of Baltimore. We are run by graduate students in the MFA Creative Writing & Publishing Arts program. Our one-time issue will be published both online and in print in May 2025.
GUIDELINES:

Writers and artists should be located in the United States of America.

Fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry should be no longer than 100 words (this does not include the title).

Literature submissions should be Times New Roman (double-spaced for prose) and submitted as a Word document (.doc or .docx). No PDFs.

Artwork should be in CMYK or greyscale with a resolution of 300 ppi and submitted as a JPEG.

Multiple submissions are allowed, with up to 3 submissions per person. All three submissions should be included in one form.

Simultaneous and previously-published submissions are allowed. Contributors should own the rights to their work when submitting. If submitting previously-published work, please include the original publication credit in your submission.

AI artwork or writing is not allowed. If the submission is suspected to be AI-generated, the work will be automatically rejected.

Original work must be sent no later than March 7th. File names must be submitted as Name_Title_Genre. For example: Edgar Allen Poe_The Raven_Poetry
COMPENSATION:

If selected for publications, contributors will be compensated with a copy of the printed issue.

One submission will be selected for publications in Welter Online.

A launch reading will also be planned where contributors can share their work.​
*You do not have to be affiliated with The University of Baltimore to be considered for publication. We welcome submissions from both emerging and established voices.
RESPONSE TIME:
We anticipate making final acceptance/rejection decisions by March 24, 2025.
